“This project was a reminder that no matter how ‘simple’ a job may sound, each project comes with its own sets of challenges to keep us busy… “

Summary of Work: This Social Security Office had a number of issues, most revolving around traveling sound and privacy. The counters weren’t accessible, the pass thru windows were outdated, the partitions were too transparent (not just visually, but acoustically as well). The work proposed were to correct these issues, by detailing new counters in some areas and windows, and providing sound wall details meant to absorb sound.

Client Needs:

  • Make elements more accessible to those with disabilities
  • Finishes to be updated
  • Provide details to properly mount sound panels

Project Challenges:

  • Building must stay open during work
  • Longer process when dealing with approvals for government buildings
  • Security to be considered
