“This concept is one of the most important ones I’ve begun in my life. I am very passionate about the direction my community is headed. It is one of the primary reasons I started this career path; to be able to provide these services and make out tribe’s ideals visualized…”
Summary of Work: This concept is an evolving item. The Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribe, the tribe that I belong to, is working on a Museum and Performing Arts Center on our tribal grounds. Currently, it is being built as a fit-out in a pole-barn building that has already been erect. But, what if it were designed to be a land-mark…
Client Needs:
- Multiple Phases
- Capturing the culture of the indigenous community
Project Challenges:
- Far from being a “real” project due to tribe’s financial capabilities
- Location of potential site not in a high traffic area
1. Phase I Floor Plan: Earlier concepts of this was to show an affordable option to a conventional building, versus the current in-place Museum Fit Out within the boundaries of a pole-barn. The idea was to leave opportunity for a restroom/shower facility to be utilized during the closed hours of the Museum for tribal family who travel from far to have somewhere to wash during their stay on our lands.
“The intention with this concept will be to continuously growing the idea with the hopes that one day, our tribe will be able to have the mean necessary to make it a real project. Though you can look at the rendering and pick apart the many ‘real’ reasons that what is rendered doesn’t completely work, the level of excitement I’ve experienced from my community of just the sheer possibility of this being real was satisfying enough to want to continue to build on the concept in the future…”
2. Early Concept Perspective: An early 3D model of what the project could look like at the conclusion of all 3 phases. This concept is then reimagined (see featured image).
